Why We Only Sell Captive-Bred
What 'captive-bred' actually means and why it matters for your animal's health and temperament.
“Captive-bred” gets used loosely, so here’s what it means at Valhal Exotics and why we won’t budge on it.
Known history
A captive-bred animal has a documented start: parentage, hatch or birth date, feeding record, and health observations. That history is the foundation of everything that follows.
Healthier animals
Wild-caught animals arrive stressed, often carrying parasites, and rarely acclimated to captive diets. Captive-bred animals skip that rough transition and establish far more reliably.
Better temperaments
Animals raised around people from day one are calmer and more predictable. For a species like foxes, early socialization is the whole ballgame.
It’s the responsible choice
Sustainable, ethical keeping starts with not pulling animals from the wild. Every animal we place is one more argument that you don’t have to.
